My goal with this project - something I've wanted to do for quite a while - was to play beautiful melodies and song forms/concepts on double bass which held up well all on their own, featuring the warm sound of the Aquila Gold Springs synthetic gut D and G strings I've been using since April 2022. Very much a blend of all of my influences throughout my musical life thus far on double bass.... Charlie Haden, Scott LaFaro, Gary Peacock, Larry Grenadier, and a bit of Marc Johnson and John Patitucci as well.

All songs were recorded live in one take, direct to stereo with no overdubs. Minor edits were made to tighten up sonic anomalies, noise, etc., but tuning inaccuracies, breaths, and more are still present.... to preserve the immediacy of the improvisations and moments.The challenge with this is to present enough harmonic information within the solo, and underneath the main melody, so that the harmony and sense of 'home' is still present even with no chords. Ideally, if one were to play the chords to these tunes underneath what I played, it would all fit... although certain liberties were taken in certain areas in terms of form and harmony implications due to the 'free' nature of the proceedings.
